Norwich Terrier character: small, not ornamental
The Norwich remains a terrier: bold, attentive and in need of a working partnership with people.

The Norwich Terrier was developed in East Anglia as a small working dog. The compact outline and prick ears are easy to recognise, but character matters more than the picture.
This is a compact breed with a hunting past: observant, sometimes stubborn, and usually deeply attached to its people. A Norwich is rarely a good match for someone who wants an ornamental lap dog without opinions.
Living with a Norwich means walks, training, wiry-coat grooming and respect for terrier independence. More detail lives on the breed page. This article is not medical advice: health belongs with a veterinarian and with the records of an individual dog.
